Royal Canin Persian Adult vs. Kitten: What’s the Difference?
If you own a Persian cat in Dhaka, you know they are picky eaters. But did you know their food needs change drastically when they hit 12 months old?
In this RC Persian review, we break down the critical differences between the Persian Kitten and Persian Adult formulas.
1. The Kibble Shape (The "Jaw" Science)
Persian cats have flat faces (brachycephalic). They cannot pick up food like normal cats; they use the underside of their tongue.
-
Kitten (Ruby/Rectangular): Tiny, soft squares. Easy for baby teeth to grasp and chew.
-
Adult (Almond): A larger, oval shape. It is designed to be "lifted" by the tongue easily and encourages crunching to clean tartar off adult teeth.
2. Protein & Fat Content
-
Kitten: High Protein (32%) and High Fat (22%). Kittens burn massive energy growing that long coat and bones.
-
Adult: Moderate Protein and Fat. Adult Persians are lazy. If they ate kitten food, they would become obese quickly.
3. Coat Support
Both formulas contain Omega-3 and Omega-6. However, the Adult formula has a stronger "Hairball Control" complex because adult cats shed significantly more than kittens.
When to Switch?
Switch from Kitten to Adult food exactly at 12 months. Mix them for 7 days to avoid stomach upsets.
Summary
Feeding the right stage ensures your Persian’s coat stays fluffy and their digestion stays smooth.
