How to Bathe a Cat Without Getting Scratched (Step-by-Step)

by ahmed shah nabil 21 Dec 2025
A split-screen guide showing a stress-free cat bath: gently pouring water over a cat standing on a towel in a sink, followed by drying the cat safely wrapped in a towel "burrito," illustrating the scratch-free bathing method using cat shampoo BD.

Let’s be honest: Most cats in Dhaka act like you are trying to kill them when water touches their paws. But sometimes—due to ringworm, fleas, or just getting dirty—a bath is necessary.

Here is how to survive the process using the right technique and cat shampoo BD.

Step 1: The Pre-Bath Prep

  • Trim Nails: Do this the day before. You don't want sharp claws during a panic.

  • Brush: Remove loose fur before it gets wet and tangles.

Step 2: The Setup

  • Don't use a bathtub (too big). Use a sink or a bucket.

  • Place a towel at the bottom of the sink/bucket. This gives the cat something to grip so they don't panic on the slippery surface.

Step 3: The Water & Shampoo

  • Use lukewarm water (never hot).

  • The Golden Rule: Never use human shampoo or Lifebuoy soap. The pH balance is different and will dry out their skin. Use a specialized cat shampoo (antifungal or conditioning).

Step 4: The Wash

  • Use a jug to pour water gently (no loud showers).

  • Avoid the face and ears entirely. Use a damp cloth to wipe the face later.

Step 5: The Drying

  • Wrap them in a towel immediately (The "Purrito").

  • Pat dry. Avoid hair dryers unless your cat is used to the noise.

Summary

Be quick, be calm, and use the right products.
