Choosing the Right Litter Box Size for Large Cats (Persian/Ragdoll)

Persian cats are the royalty of Dhaka. They are big, fluffy, and majestic. But there is a problem: Most standard litter boxes sold in local markets are designed for small, local cats.
If your Persian is "missing" the box (peeing over the edge) or refusing to go in, the problem isn't the cat. It’s the equipment. You need a large litter box BD style!
The "1.5x Rule"
The golden rule for litter box sizing is: The box should be 1.5 times the length of your cat.
-
If your cat is 12 inches long (excluding tail), the box needs to be at least 18 inches long.
-
For a fluffy Persian, they need extra width to turn around without their fur touching the dirty sides.
Signs Your Box is Too Small
-
The "Perch": Your cat balances on the edge of the box to pee because there isn't room to stand inside.
-
Uncovered Poop: They leave their business uncovered because they don't have room to dig and turn.
-
Accidents: They pee right next to the box.
Types of Large Boxes Available
-
Jumbo Open Trays: Great for ventilation. Look for high sides ("High Rim") to prevent them kicking sand out.
-
XXL Hooded (Covered) Boxes: These are great for privacy and smell control, but ensure the door is large enough for a Persian to walk through without squeezing.
Summary
Don't force a big cat into a small box. Investing in a large litter box in BD will stop accidents and keep your fluffy friend comfortable.
